A holiday is ending

Saturday, June 4 – it was with much sorrow and regret we had to leave Buliisa and Marita and the Amari school and return to Kampala for more ministry activities on sunday. Our very early planned start did not eventuate due to a case of sleeping in. How one can sleep in after a week off and basically doing nothing much is amazing!!!…so, after a breakfast of chapatis we set off along the road that runs along the edge of the Bungungu Game Reserve. Baboons were everywhere, nothing it seemed other than Baboons, Baboons and MORE Baboons, we have never seen so many Baboons as this on our previous trips to Buliisa/Murchinson Falls National Park, it really was an amazing sight. We even encountered more of them far beyond the borders where they naturally habitate.
On the way between Biso and Masindi is sugar cane country and being the driver for the day I practised a recently acquired new skill, overtaking the huge cane trucks on their inside. The drivers generally drive in the middle of the road, move over for no one, proceed at a pace even snails could keep up with, have NO mirrors AT ALL and allow no one to pass. I discovered if one goes down the inside and closes the eyes ‘in case’ –  it works out ok – well, so far it has.
Not too far from home some Vervet monkeys decided to copy our Aussie kangaroos and cross directly in front of the fast moving vehicle at the inappropriate time – with a bit of deft braking, sliding and acceleration a major disaster was averted.
It was a fabulous week spent with my adorable wife celebrating our 30 years of marriage together in a part of the lovely, beautiful land of Uganda. I am grateful Christ has called us to this land to minister Him to this part of the world.
Thank You Jesus, for
Life and forgiveness.
A wife and a family.
A new home and new ministry field.
An opportunity to visit and appreciate another part of Your creation – the land of Uganda.
